This article establishes procedures for Laboratory testing and reporting samples of reinforced concrete culvert, storm drain, and sewer pipe. Refer to Sec 1026 for MoDOT's specifications.

1026.8.1 Procedure

Tests consist of compression and absorption.

1026.8.1.1 Compression Test

Samples may consist of two standard concrete cylinders made in accordance with AASHTO T23 or one core drilled from the wall of the pipe in accordance with AASHTO T280.

a) Concrete cylinders shall be tested in accordance with AASHTO T22 Test results and calculations shall be recorded through AASHTOWARE Project (AWP).

b) Drilled cores shall be tested in accordance with AASHTO T280. Test results and calculations shall be recorded through AWP.

1026.8.1.2 Absorption Test

Samples shall be tested in accordance with AASHTO T280. Test results and calculations shall be recorded through AWP.

1026.8.2 Sample Record

The sample record shall be completed in AASHTOWARE Project (AWP), as described in AWP MA Sample Record, General. Test results shall be reported on the appropriate templates under the Tests tab. Compression test results for concrete cylinders are to include the notation in remarks, "Specimens submitted for compressive strength at the age indicated." Compression test results for concrete cores are to include the notation in remarks, "Sample submitted for the determinations as indicated." Absorption test results for concrete cores or pieces from the wall of the pipe shall indicate acceptance, qualified acceptance, or rejection. Appropriate remarks, as described in EPG 106.20 Reporting, are to be included in the remarks to clarify conditions of acceptance or rejection.
